Summary
Modern advanced remote sensing technologies will be applied to perform large scale monitoring of (early) slope deformations, including Satellite SAR Interferometry techniques, Ground Laser Scanning for in-situ refinement of detected movements or Multibeam Echosounding for monitoring slope deformation advancement into water objects. Areas known for active or potential landslides, river embankments and dams will be monitored in order to detect and evaluate threats of their instability. Based on interpretation of results by top experts, a specialized methodology focusing on slope deformations monitoring in (semi-)arid areas is to be developed. Experience and methodology achieved by the Project teams can then be used advantageously for similar tasks in other Central Asian countries.
