Summary
The project brings proposal of intelligent system for interactive support of thematic map design. There are many people without elementary knowledge of map design rules. This people create maps intuitively. They do not use system of cardinal rules, principles and forms used in thematic cartography. The final map is not able to meet the basic aim and function. The main project goal is cartographical knowledge base compilation for support of the thematic map design. Suitable environment for knowledge base administration is intelligent system. Knowledge base will be integrated to the functional complex with software for interactive map design. Such system is suitable for users support in case of selection correct cartographic method or rule. This support can be used by spatial data interactive visualization. Proposed cartographic knowledge base and intelligent system should keep maps from serious mistakes.
