Summary
The students and staff of the Department of Geodesy and Mining Surveying have been involved in terrestrial laser scanning for some time. In recent years we can observe a steadily increasing interest in these technologies in various technical sectors. When dealing with specific tasks in surveying, it is necessary to respond effectively to the specific requirements of the technical fields. For a comprehensive and successful solution, it is necessary to correctly balance the requirements for accuracy, time and, last but not least, economic demands. The popularity and high interest in terrestrial laser scanning is reflected in the increasing number of students addressing this issue in their bachelor, master and doctoral theses every year. In the project we would like to build on the experience and knowledge gained so far in the field of terrestrial laser scanning. We would like to use both the existing equipment and software of the department and new equipment that would suitably complement and extend the technical resources of the department. The application of terrestrial laser scanning technology is nowadays becoming a commonplace part of solving tasks in surveying practice. It has its own role in the documentation of the actual state of building objects, especially objects with a more complex spatial character, where the solution by classical geodetic methods would be very inefficient or very complicated. Terrestrial laser scanning not only enables measurements in exteriors, but also allows scanning of interior spaces or objects located in them. The importance of terrestrial laser scanners thus spills over into other technical fields or artistic areas such as conservation. It is also of importance to owners or managers of housing stock, where these technologies are used, for example, to measure the floor area of an apartment, to solve cubature or for design or documentation purposes. The importance and significance of terrestrial laser scanning technology is also underlined by the fact that BIM is mandatory for buildings exceeding a certain financial framework set by the EU. In the coming years, we will surely encounter much more often buildings that will have to be designed within the framework of BIM. The subject of the research will be a comparison of the existing KGDM instrumentation of 3D laser scanners with the new technology of 3D scanning based on photogrammetry. Currently there is only one such comprehensive system on the market, with the addition of RTK image positioning, based on basic geodetic principles. This system is offered by Pix4D and is the viDoc RTK rover. The advantage of this rover is its compatibility with the current KGDM software (Pix4D Mapper software) and the possibility to connect to both iOS and Android mobile phones. The accuracy claimed by the manufacturer will be verified within the project on selected test objects, which will vary in location, complexity and spatial arrangement, including the use of the rover in interiors (BIM).
